Reverend Kirk Stephen Larkin passed away April 29, 2011. He was born June 12, 1959 in St. Louis, MO to Jacob & Rosalie (Drummond) Larkin. In the early 1990s, he began attending daily Mass and became increasingly active in the Knights of Columbus, the R.C.I.A. program, and many other ministries and parish activities at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. His faith was evident to the entire parish, which enthusiastically supported his decision for the priesthood. He received a Master's of Divinity in 2004 and on June 4, 2004, at the age of 45, was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. Father Larkin's first assignment was as associate pastor of St. Mary Church of Ponca City, and in 2007 became pastor of Holy Family Church in Lawton. There he served with the same joy and enthusiasm shown when he first heard God's calling. He is survived by his mother, Rosalie Larkin; 5 siblings, Cheryl Fair, Jim Larkin and wife Verla, Louis Larkin and wife Annemarie, Casimira Rhea and husband Allen, and Lisa Hill and husband Steve; 14 nieces and nephews; three great- nephews and niece; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob Larkin; and a nephew, Collin Larkin. A vigil will be held Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m., and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m., both services held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. Burial will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Fr. Larkin's memory to the Archdiocesan Seminary Fund or the Mercy Hospice Team.
